Isaiah 65:12

Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
10

And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me.

11

But ye are they that forsake the Lord, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.

12

Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.

13

Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

14

Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

Counter-Arguments

The strongest case that this verse does not belong in this theme.

Annihilation / Destruction

While the verse speaks of being "numbered to the sword" and bowing down "to the slaughter," it does not explicitly state that those being slaughtered will cease to exist entirely or be annihilated, only that they will suffer a violent end.

Destruction / Perishing Language

The verse describes a consequence ("number you to the sword," "bow down to the slaughter") rather than directly using the specific "destruction/perishing language" terms listed in the theme definition.

Punishment Language

While the verse describes negative consequences, it does not explicitly use the words "punish," "torment," "vengeance," "wrath," "recompense," or "retribution," which are the specific terms outlined in the theme definition. The language used, such as being "numbered to the sword" and bowing "to the slaughter," could be interpreted as a description of a natural outcome of their actions rather than a direct statement of divine punishment.
