Counter-Arguments

The strongest case that this verse does not belong in this theme.

Israel-Specific Promises

This verse describes a period of Israelite servitude to a foreign king, which is a consequence of their disobedience, not a promise or covenant directed at them. It details a historical event, not a prophetic utterance or a specific promise.

Time-Bound Fulfillment

The verse describes a past event with a duration, but it does not present this duration as the fulfillment of a prior prophecy or expectation. There is no indication within the verse itself that this eighteen-year period was foretold or anticipated as a specific time-bound fulfillment.
