Leviticus 15:14

And on the eighth day he shall take to him two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, and come before the Lord unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and give them unto the priest:
12

And the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the issue, shall be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.

13

And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.

14

And on the eighth day he shall take to him two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, and come before the Lord unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and give them unto the priest:

15

And the priest shall offer them, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the Lord for his issue.

16

And if any man’s seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even.

Counter-Arguments

The strongest case that this verse does not belong in this theme.

Christ as High Priest

This verse describes a ritual involving an ordinary priest in the Levitical system, not a high priest, and it focuses on the offering of birds for purification, not on the nature or role of a high priest or any future fulfillment. There is no mention of mediation, intercession, or sacrifice of the priest himself.

Earthly Sanctuary System

While the verse mentions elements associated with the sanctuary system, its primary focus is on the actions of an individual bringing an offering, rather than describing the system itself.

Atonement Process

The verse describes an offering made on the eighth day, which follows a period of uncleanness, but it does not explicitly state that this offering is for the purpose of atonement, forgiveness, or reconciliation for sin. The text focuses on the procedural aspect of bringing an offering to the priest at the tabernacle.

Day of Atonement (Judgment Phase)

This verse describes a ritual offering involving turtledoves or pigeons on the eighth day, which is a common purification offering for various conditions, not specifically the unique annual ceremony of Yom Kippur or the scapegoat ritual. The text makes no mention of atonement for the nation, sanctuary cleansing, or final judgment.
