Pre-Incarnate Christ (Christophany)

The verse Luke 1:28 describes the angel Gabriel addressing Mary. There is no indication in the text itself, nor in the broader context of Luke's Gospel, that this angel is anything other than a created angelic being, specifically identified as Gabriel in verse 26. The Angel of the LORD in the Old Testament, which is sometimes interpreted as a Christophany, is a distinct figure from the angel Gabriel in the New Testament. To equate Gabriel with the pre-incarnate Christ based solely on this verse
