Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
20

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Counter-Arguments

The strongest case that this verse does not belong in this theme.

Literal Fulfillment

While the verse states a fulfillment, it doesn't explicitly detail the "concrete, physical terms" of that fulfillment within its own text, requiring reference to the prophetic source for that detail.

Past Fulfillment (Historic)

There is no credible argument against this verse supporting the theme of "Past Fulfillment (Historic)." The verse explicitly states that events occurred "that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet," directly indicating a past fulfillment of prophecy.

Single Fulfillment

While the verse states "all this was done, that it might be fulfilled," it doesn't explicitly preclude the possibility of other, perhaps less direct or partial, fulfillments of the same prophecy in different contexts or times, even if the immediate context points to a specific event.
