Numbers 19:13

Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the Lord; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
11

He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

12

He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

13

Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the Lord; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

14

This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

15

And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

Counter-Arguments

The strongest case that this verse does not belong in this theme.

Symbolic / Spiritual Interpretation

The verse explicitly describes a physical act (touching a dead body) and a physical ritual (sprinkling water of separation) leading to a physical state of uncleanness and exclusion from the community, with no direct indication that "defileth the tabernacle" or "unclean" are used in a non-literal, spiritual sense.

Annihilation / Destruction

The phrase "cut off from Israel" could be interpreted as excommunication or removal from the community, rather than literal annihilation or ceasing to exist.

Destruction / Perishing Language

While the phrase "cut off from Israel" implies a severe consequence, it does not explicitly state destruction or perishing in a physical sense, but rather a separation from the community.

Earthly Sanctuary System

While the verse mentions "defileth the tabernacle of the Lord," its primary focus is on individual ritual purity and the consequences of failing to purify oneself, rather than directly describing the structure or function of the sanctuary system itself.
