Counter-Arguments

The strongest case that this verse does not belong in this theme.

Total Abstinence

This verse describes a specific event where wine is used as a condition for a planned assassination, not as a general warning against its consumption or a command for total abstinence. The focus is on the act of murder, not the inherent dangers of wine itself.

Permissible Use (Moderation)

This verse describes wine being used as a tool for manipulation and murder, not as a blessing or acceptable part of life. The focus is on Amnon's vulnerability due to intoxication, which is exploited, rather than on the moderation or permissibility of wine itself.
